SERIAL English Club: Come listen to and discuss America’s #1 podcast SERIAL with fellow English speakers. Based on a true crime, SERIAL is a story of a woman who challenges the verdict of a murder case that happened in Maryland over a decade ago. Week by week, you’ll learn more of the story and have the opportunity to debate “whodunnit”, learn about American culture and the U.S. justice system, and maybe even enjoy a bowl of cereal. English Club will be every Wednesday at 16:00 in room 150, starting on March 3, 2015. All are welcome!
Global Collaboration Project: Connect with other English language students from around the world, including the US, South Korea, Turkey, Czech Republic and Malaysia, to learn about and discuss global issues faced by us all. In this 8-week, virtual project, you will have the chance to make international friends, discover other cultures, and solve problems with an international team. The first meeting will be Monday, February 23 at 13:30 in the computer lab next to the English Department Office. In-person attendance is optional after this day- all the work can be completed online from the comfort of your home.
Poetry Contest: Compete in a poetry contest either by reciting or writing your own English poem. The theme of the contest is “The Coming of Spring.” It will be held on April 16 at 15:00. A panel of native English speakers and University English professors will judge contestants and will award prizes for the winners of each category. Please sign up with Abby Poeske in-person or at apoeske@gmail.com before April 11 if you plan on participating.
